Guardian Program

We believe in raising healthy, happy puppies, and finding loving forever families for all our dogs, and the Guardian Home program allows you to be a part of this important mission.

In our breeding program, we prioritize the well-being and happiness of our dogs. We firmly believe that dogs raised in kennels miss out on the socialization and stimulation needed to become well-balanced and joyful companions. That's why our Guardian Homes have become an integral part of our program, and it benefits everyone - the dogs, the breeder, the guardian and their forever families.

Our Guardian Home program offers local families the unique opportunity to have a breeder's "Pick of the Litter" puppy or a dog specifically chosen to join our program, only for a low upfront cost. These pups become cherished members of your family, receiving the love, care, and attention they deserve, while we retain breeding rights for a period until their retirement from the program.

How it works:

For FEMALES

Her litter of puppies will be whelped at your home and raised by you, their loving family. We will compensate you for this, per litter whelped. If your family whelps, we provide all the necessary breeding-related vet care, expenses and supplies (ie: whelping box, food, heaters, whelping pads, toys, etc).   We will also provide whelping and puppy care guidance to help you through the process. You will have the joy of raising a few litters of puppies with your guardian home dog, and also make a side income.

Or, we can whelp and raise the litter in our home. Our preference is the guardian family whelps the litters, but we can discuss. If we will whelp and raise the litters of puppies, the female comes to our home a week before she is scheduled to give birth, until her puppies are weaned at approximately 6-7 weeks old. You are welcome to visit your dog and her litter. Most guardian families take advantage of this time to take a family vacation, knowing their puppy is in good hands, without the cost of a puppy sitter/ boarding.

What this means for you and your guardian home dog is that they have approximately 3-5 litters within around 1-3 years, and then we will pay the cost to have the guardian dog spayed or neutered. Your guardian dog will live with you forever and be a loving part of your family, unless the guardian can no longer properly care for the dog or comply with the requirements of being a guardian family.

For MALES

We will occasionally ask for you to make the puppy available to us when needed, usually for testing, breeding or photo purposes.

Once the dog is of age, has passed all of his health testing, and is ready to breed (when optimal sexually maturity has been reached) our male dogs may spend a day or a few days at a time with us, whenever needed.   Guardians must be able to keep male dogs away from intact female dogs in heat. Males will retire at around the age of 5-7, Once retired the male will be neutered (courtesy of us) and continue to live the remainder of his life with his guardian family.

How to qualify as a Guardian Home and maintain status:

● Own your own home or live in a long-term rental residence

● Have a fenced yard/house (preferable)

● If there is a pool, need to have a safety gate for dog not to fall in

● Have an adult that works from home or stays at home majority of the time during whelping

● Live within 1 hour from San Mateo CA; and will live within the similar distance until our agreement is completed

● Ensure that puppy is well-socialized and trained

● Provide veterinary care when needed, and will inform breeder if guardian dog experiences any ailments

● Provide healthy food, comparable or better than food provided by breeder

● Guardian will keep dog and its litter healthy and safe and groomed

● Guardian will inform Breeder immediately when the dog is in heat (timing is absolutely essential)

● Guardian will allow access to dog, coordinate or bring dog to breeder or vet when needed, for breeding purposes

● Guardian will provide photos of dog on a regular basis, and will allow breeder to visit puppy and litters, as needed

● Guardian will not have any other intact animals in the home for the duration of their contract with us

● Keep the female dog away from any intact males during her heat cycle when she is not with us for breeding

Most importantly, give your dog lots of love, hugs & kisses !
